Yeah, we know. You don’t want to think about it. But it’s coming.
Your license renewal.
And ignoring it doesn’t prevent the inevitable. You’ve got to get those classes in somehow, right? Let us help.
NWIA is bringing six CE classes to the board office in the month of April. Included in our offerings are the required Ethics and Legal Update classes that everyone must have.
We know. Some April days can be nice, and it’s hard to fight spring fever. But April is not yet the busiest season of the year and maybe it’ll rain that day and you won’t mind being inside. Either way, it certainly will be harder to want to sit inside on a gorgeous summer day, when you’d rather be on the lake or at the golf course.
Wouldn’t you rather get the classes done now than be stressing about how you’re going to find what you need and fit it all in this fall?
Avoid the travel. Avoid the hassle. Take a gander at what you need now, and get signed up. Course outlines and registration details are available at the links to each class.
Listing Practices, April 8-9
Law Update, April 14
Ethics, April 15
Not So Short: How To Close A Short Sale, April 15
Buying Practices, April 22-23
Developing Professionalism, April 29-30
Let us know if you have questions. We’ll look forward to seeing your smiling face at the office in April.
Make plans to join us Thursday, February 18 at Noon at Bev’s on the River for our next board luncheon. Come meet your friends and enjoy a great meal!
Our speaker will be Matt Salvatore, Sioux City Parks and Recreation Director. Matt will share plans for the exciting Cone Park project, which will be the first of its kind in Iowa. This all-season park will have features such as a sledding hill, ice skating area and a splash pad. It is expected to be a regional attraction for all of Northwest Iowa.
Matt will also spend a few minutes discussing the expansion of trails along the Sioux City riverfront, and explain future plans for the community’s swimming pools.
This month’s event will be filled with great information that will help you showcase Sioux City and Northwest Iowa to your clients. We hope you will make the time to enjoy a fabulous free lunch and fill your tool kit with good information about our region.

Know someone who’s interested in obtaining their Iowa real estate license? Pre-license courses are coming to Sioux City starting on March 11. NWIA is delighted to offer this opportunity to obtain this required coursework close to home, with limited travel time and expenses.
This 60 hour course meets for three weekends in March and April. The course must be completed as a requirement for the Iowa licensing exam.
Full course details and registration information are available on the Iowa Association of REALTORS website. We hope to see many new faces there!
Due to inclement weather, the NWIA Board Office will be closed all day on Wednesday, February 3. However, your awesome, amazing and incredibly dedicated staff will be checking messages occasionally throughout the day.
From their homes. And probably while wearing their slippers. And maybe even lounging all day in pajamas.
Sorry, did that cross the line of too much information? Well, it’s the truth people. We only speak the truth around here.
Due to a family emergency, Kelly Burge is out of the office. Heather Frigge has a previously scheduled commitment which cannot be changed.
We regret the inconvenience, and appreciate your understanding in this matter. The office will reopen Monday, February 1 as usual at 8 AM.
Join us January 28 at Noon for our monthly board lunch at Bev’s on the River. This month will be your first opportunity to meet and hear from the opens in a new windownew Iowa Association of REALTORS CEO Gavin Blair.
***Note the date is a week later than our normal board lunch!***
Gavin comes to IAR from the Dayton (Ohio) Area Board of REALTORS®, where he was most recently CEO. Prior to his role in Dayton, Blair was the Government Affairs Director at the Columbus Board of REALTORS® for three and a half years. He is involved in several workgroups and committees at the National Association of REALTORS® including the Association Executive Committee and the Professional Standards Committee.
Gavin has earned his REALTOR® Certified Executive (RCE) Designation and is a graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in Political Science. He is a sports fan and a lifelong Buckeye supporter, and enjoys running and golfing. He is looking forward to making Iowa his new home.
Were you a Top Producer in 2015? If so, make sure to apply for an Individual Achievement Award from the Iowa Association of REALTORS.

In order to receive a certificate and recognition for achievement, members must submit their completed application and $25.00 cash or check to the address found in the application materials. Unfortunately, no other forms of payment are accepted.
The application must be submitted/postmarked by March 31, 2016 and accompanied with the $25.00 application fee. Faxed copies can not be accepted.

NWIA member and REALTOR® Kasey Mitchell was installed as the newest member of the Akron, Iowa City Council on Tuesday, December 14. This was Mitchell’s first run for public office.
In an article in The Akron Hometowner newspaper published prior to his election, Mitchell discussed his run for public office.
“I was brought up in Akron,” he said regarding his motivation to run for the council. “You always see things you’d like to see changed but it doesn’t happen.”
“I’d like to see more voices heard, not just a certain group,” said Mitchell. “Everyone should have an opinion.”
The new solon has several goals for his time in office. “I’d like to see more business come to Akron and help our existing businesses grow,” said Mitchell, adding he’d like to learn more about the politics in Akron and be a part of that group making decisions for Akron’s future.
Mitchell is an agent in the office of Century 21 ProLink in Sioux City. He has been a licensed real estate agent in Iowa and REALTOR® member since 2014.
